QATAR AIRWAYS (QR) FLIGHT COMPENSATION FOR CANCELLATION/DELAY

Refund for Qatar Airways Flight Delays

Qatar Airways' flights are often delayed, despite the fact that it is one of the world's most punctual carriers. When they are delayed, their passengers may be entitled to reimbursement of up to 600 euros for their missed trip.

Remember that flight delays annoy Qatar Airways just as much as they annoy you. Almost. After all, they do have a schedule to follow. However, not all delays are the same, and when the airline is to blame, passengers should be paid for their inconvenience.

That is the purpose of EU Regulation 261/2004. Depending on the length of your journey, you may be eligible for up to 600€ in payment for a Qatar Airways flight delay. To qualify, you must have arrived at your destination at least 3 hours after the scheduled arrival time, and the airline must be liable for the delay (the carrier is not required to compensate you if the aircraft was delayed due to "exceptional circumstances").

As previously stated, the amount of compensation for flight delays is determined by the length of the voyage, as follows:

  • up to 1,500 km, the compensation is 250 EUR,
  • between 1,500 and 3,500 km and for flights of more than 1,500 km within Europe, the compensation is 400 EUR
  • more than 3,500 km, the compensation is 600 EUR.

Qatar Airways Flight Cancellation Compensation

The other major concern that travelers may encounter when traveling with Qatar Airways is flight cancellations. If this happens to you, you may be eligible for flight cancellation compensation. It doesn't fix the problem, but it helps to make this unpleasant experience bearable.

After all, Qatar Airways has no choice but to cancel flights on occasion. While it will cause some inconvenience to your travel plans, EU Regulation 261/2004 will once again guarantee your rights as an air passenger. In this case, too, the airline must be held accountable: Flights that are canceled due to unforeseen circumstances are not eligible for reimbursement. Strikes, reorganization of air traffic control, and other events fall within this category.

However, if the airline was at fault and failed to notify you of the cancellation at least 14 days before the departure date, EU law specifies that you are entitled to compensation of up to 600€ - the exact amount depends on the length of your voyage.

If Qatar Airways cancels your flight, keep in mind that the compensation isn't everything you're entitled to. They must also issue a refund or rebook you on the next available flight to your destination (if there are seats available). This is independent of your right to compensation: for example, you might receive both a refund and a 600€ compensation. Click2refund can assist you in obtaining the funds owed to you by the airline.

Customers who are entitled to receive payment under EC261 may expect to get their money 16 weeks after filing a claim, which is far longer than the industry's average resolution time. However, we work with Qatar Airways on a regular basis at Click2refund and have already assisted passengers in receiving reimbursement. If your flight with Qatar Airways was delayed or cancelled, we will assist you in obtaining the funds you are entitled.

How much will Qatar Airways compensate you for your flight?

  • up to 250 EUR per person; All flights under 1,500 km
  • up to 400 EUR per person; Internal EU flights over 1,500 km
  • up to 400 EUR per person; Non-internal EU flights between 1,500-3,500 km
  • up to 600 EUR per person; Non-internal EU flights over 3,500 km

EC 261 treats all paying passengers the same. The compensation amounts are the same regardless of where a traveler is from, whether they are an adult or a kid, or how much they paid for their ticket.

As with every legislation, there are exceptions and specific circumstances that might influence the amount of compensation payable in any given situation.

If my Qatar Airways flight was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic, can I obtain a refund and compensation?

In most cases, no – you may only obtain a refund for your airline ticket if your flight is canceled, as coronavirus is a rare occurrence that is not qualified for compensation.
